Ambient is distributed through organization-specific rollout channels. Use the installer link your organization sent you.

Set up Ambient

1

Open your organization-specific installer

Download links are intentionally not published in these docs. If you cannot find yours, contact the person managing your rollout.
2

Install and sign in

Launch Ambient and sign in with the account assigned to your organization. Ambient may install or connect its Bridge companion during setup.
3

Grant system access

Allow the permissions required for the sources your organization uses. Depending on your platform and settings, this can include screen recording, microphone, accessibility, or input monitoring.
4

Choose capture sources

Open Settings and review the enabled sources. Screen, microphone, system audio, keyboard activity, active app/window, and accessibility context can be controlled independently when available.
5

Add exclusions

Exclude private apps and websites before you begin. Ambient also applies built-in exclusions and platform protections such as secure-input handling.
6

Confirm recording

The sidebar capture card should say Capturing. If it says Paused, press Start. If it is blocked, follow the permission or sign-in message shown in the card.

Windows installation

During the current rollout, Windows may not recognize Ambient’s publisher. Only install Ambient from the organization-specific link sent to you.
  1. Try the installer normally.
  2. If Windows says the downloaded file is blocked, right-click the installer, select Properties, select Unblock on the General tab, then select Apply.
  3. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows More info, confirm that the file came from your organization’s rollout channel before choosing Run anyway.
  4. If Smart App Control blocks the installer and does not offer a per-app option, ask your IT administrator whether you may turn it off. Open Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings, then select Off.
Turning off Smart App Control reduces Windows protection and may not be immediately reversible on every Windows version. Do not disable Microsoft Defender Antivirus or other security controls. If your device is managed, contact your IT administrator instead.

What to expect during rollout

  • Your organization controls which Ambient features are available.
  • Recording, Activity, and Memory can remain available when Agents, Skills, or Reports are disabled.
  • Some deployments use recorder mode: the device captures approved raw sources and uploads them for organization-managed processing instead of showing local derived results.
  • Ambient may show a calibration notice during the first 24 accumulated hours of active recording.
Only record work approved by your organization. Review capture sources and exclusions whenever your work context changes.
